About the event
Please join us for an “Up Close and Personal” Tour of the Great Lakes Water Authority’s Water Works Park Treatment Facility, located at 10100 E. Jefferson Ave., Detroit, MI 48214.
The one-hour tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. and offer a behind-the-scenes look at this historic facility. Water Works Park has been a source of pride for southeast Michigan since 1879, once serving as the first branch of the Detroit Public Library and featuring an iconic 185-foot, minaret-like stone tower.
Today, Water Works Park is home to GLWA’s newest water treatment plant, capable of producing up to 240 million gallons of high-quality drinking water each day. It is also the largest plant in Michigan to use ozone, a disinfectant more potent than chlorine.
Space is limited to 40 participants, and required paperwork must be received by Tuesday, September 8.
