November 2022 Meeting: City Council Update

Rivertown Detroit Association’s November 2022 Meeting featured Detroit City Council President Mary Sheffield for a City-Council Update. Mary Sheffield serves as President of the Detroit City Council and is the Detroit City Councilperson for District 5. Sheffield’s demonstrated track record of service and leadership within the community helped her to become the youngest person to ever be elected to the Detroit City Council in November 2013. Council Member Sheffield was appointed as Chair of the Neighborhood and Community Services Standing Committee and also serves as a member of the Planning and Economic Development Standing Committee. She also has been appointed to serve as a board member for the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and the Continuum of Care. She also is a member of the National Network to Combat Gun Violence and People for the American Way’s Young Elected Officials. At the Council table, Council Member Sheffield has made a commitment to fight for the continued growth of our city and has remained steadfast in keeping our neighborhoods at the center of the conversation.

The event was hosted by the Pope Francis Center at 438 St. Antoine. The event was also a clothing collection & fundraiser to benefit the homeless of Detroit.
